Product Information
EARL GREY TEA FOR FOR EARL GREY LOVERS - Our Earl Grey Imperial tea is an elegant tea with a little extra bergamot, as compared to a regular Earl Grey tea. So it is an absolute must for those who just need a little bit 'extra' in their Earl Grey. A particular blend of teas from China and India are flavored with natural bergamot oil. This fine afternoon tea was originally commissioned for British Prime Minister, Earl Grey. Ingredients: Black teas, Oolong Tea, Natural Oil of Bergamot.

GREAT PRESENT IDEA - This tea is featured in Harney's Historic Royal Palaces Collection in a traditional tin design, making it a great present idea for tea lovers. Tin contains 30 sachets. Each sachet contains enough tea to brew a 12 ounce cup of tea.

BREWING SUGGESTION - Tea is only as good as the water it is brewed in. Use filtered water as needed. Use one sachet for each cup of tea desired. Pour 212F water over the tea and infuse for 5 minutes. Remove the sachet. Relax and enjoy. Contains caffeine, 40-60 milligrams per cup.

HISTORIC ROYAL PALACES is an independent charity with a team of people who love and look after six of the most wonderful palaces in the world: Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace, the Banqueting House, Kensington Palace, Kew Palace, and Hillsborough Castle and Gardens. Creating space for spirits to stir and be stirred, HRP wants everyone to feel welcome and accepted.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a good coffee replacement for a morning routine?

Many customers use it specifically as a coffee substitute. The moderate 40-60mg of caffeine provides a gentle lift without the jitters, and the smooth finish never becomes bitter even when over-steeped. It pairs well with cream, stevia or monk fruit sweetener, and collagen powder for a fuller morning ritual.

Can I drink this in the afternoon without it affecting my sleep?

For most people, yes. With 40-60mg of caffeine per cup, it has less caffeine than a standard cup of coffee, making it well suited to afternoon drinking. If you are particularly caffeine-sensitive, you can brew a single sachet in 24 ounces of water for a lighter cup, or switch to a caffeine-free alternative in the evening.

Does the aroma actually help with a wind-down ritual?

Customers frequently mention that the bergamot and stone fruit aroma fills the entire kitchen during brewing, which sets a calming tone. Pairing a brewed cup with a quiet moment, a book, or a bath makes it a natural anchor for a personal care routine.

Is the tea free from added sugar and artificial ingredients?

Yes. The blend is unsweetened, kosher certified, and gluten-free, with natural bergamot oil rather than artificial flavoring. Many drinkers note that it tastes naturally sweet thanks to the vanilla, honey, and stone fruit notes, even though no sugar is added.

Can I reuse a sachet to stretch it across two cups?

Yes. A single sachet can be reused for a second cup, which extends the value and gives you two lighter rounds from one sachet. For a stronger first cup, brew two sachets in 24 ounces of water.

Is this a good option if I'm trying to cut back on caffeine gradually?

It is a reasonable middle step. At 40-60mg per cup, it sits between a fully caffeinated cup of coffee and a green or white tea. If you are stepping down, the moderate caffeine level and the smooth, satisfying flavor make the transition easier than switching to a more aggressively decaf option.

Does the brand align with mindful or sustainable consumption values?

Yes. Harney & Sons is a member of 1% for the Planet, the tins are reusable rather than disposable, and the two-year shelf life supports low-waste stocking. For buyers who consider sustainability part of their wellness practice, those factors reinforce the choice.

Can I use this as part of a daily ritual rather than an occasional treat?

Absolutely. The 30-sachet count supports daily use for about a month, and the consistent quality means the experience does not feel like a splurge even on an ordinary Tuesday. Many customers build a morning or 3pm ritual around it.

Is the caffeine level enough to feel useful, or is it too weak to matter?

Most drinkers find it substantively useful for an afternoon pick-me-up. Brewing a single sachet in 12 ounces gives a steady lift, and brewing two sachets in 24 ounces gives a noticeably stronger cup that some customers use as a true coffee replacement.

Does it cause jitteriness or a caffeine crash?

Customers generally report a smooth experience with no jittery feeling, and the moderate caffeine level tends to produce a more even lift than coffee. The smooth finish and natural sweetness also reduce the urge to add sugar, which helps avoid an energy spike-and-crash cycle.

Can I serve it iced in warmer months as a refreshing alternative?

Yes. The blend works well over ice, and the bergamot and stone fruit notes stay vivid when chilled. Cold-brewing a few sachets in a pitcher overnight is a simple way to keep the ritual going year-round.

Will the sachet material leach anything into the hot water?

The silken sachets are specifically designed for hot brewing and are widely used in premium tea lines. The construction prevents loose leaves from escaping, and customers have not raised concerns about off-flavors or material transfer during brewing.

Is the tin itself a wellness-aligned choice, beyond the tea inside?

The reusable tin supports a less wasteful kitchen setup, and many customers repurpose it for storing dried herbs, loose tea, or small wellness items like essential oil samples. The decorative design also makes it easy to keep on display rather than hidden in a cabinet.

Does this tea support hydration, or will it dehydrate me like coffee?

Black tea contributes to daily fluid intake and is far less dehydrating than coffee in equivalent servings. For wellness-focused drinkers tracking hydration, a daily cup or two fits comfortably into a hydration routine.

Is it gentle on the stomach compared to coffee?

Most customers who switched from coffee report better stomach comfort, particularly in the morning. The moderate caffeine, lack of acidity, and smooth finish make it a comfortable daily option, though individual sensitivities vary.

Can I blend it with other teas for a custom wellness mix?

Yes. Customers frequently blend it with other Harney & Sons teas, such as a caramel or vanilla-forward blend, to tailor the flavor to their mood. Mixing also lets you stretch a tin further and experiment with caffeine levels.

How do I brew a single cup of this Earl Grey?

Use one silken sachet per 12 ounces of freshly boiled water. Steep for 4-5 minutes, then remove the sachet. For a stronger cup, steep longer or brew two sachets in 24 ounces of water. For a lighter cup, dilute a single sachet brew with additional hot water.

Can I reuse a sachet for a second cup?

Yes. A single sachet can be steeped a second time for a lighter follow-up cup. For best results, brew the first cup at full strength and then immediately re-steep the same sachet in another 12 ounces of hot water for a shorter 2-3 minute steep.

How should I store the tin to keep the tea fresh?

Keep the tin sealed and stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, heat, and strong odors. The metal tin itself does a good job of protecting the sachets from moisture and air, so there is no need to transfer them to a separate container. The two-year shelf life gives you plenty of time to work through a tin.

Does this tea work with an electric kettle, or do I need a special kettle?

Any kettle that brings water to a full boil works fine, including standard stovetop kettles, electric kettles, and temperature-controlled kettles set to 212°F. No specialty equipment is required to enjoy the tea.

Is this tea compatible with a sweetener, milk, or other add-ins?

Yes. The blend is frequently enjoyed plain, but it pairs well with cream, milk, stevia, monk fruit, honey, and sugar. It also blends nicely with other Harney & Sons teas, such as a caramel-forward blend, and is commonly used in collagen or latte-style preparations.

What is included in the tin when it arrives?

Each tin contains 30 silken sachets of HRP Earl Grey Imperial black and oolong tea blend. No additional accessories are included, so you will need a cup, a kettle or hot water source, and optionally milk or a sweetener to brew.

Is this tea safe for people with common dietary restrictions?

The blend is kosher certified, gluten-free, and contains no added sugar or sweeteners. It does contain natural bergamot oil and a black and oolong tea base. If you have a specific allergy or medical concern, review the full ingredient list on the tin or contact the brand before consuming.

How long will a tin stay fresh after I open it?

Unopened, the tin has a two-year shelf life. Once opened, the sachets stay fresh for many months as long as the tin is resealed and stored in a cool, dry place away from sunlight and strong odors. Harney & Sons' packaging is specifically designed to preserve flavor after opening.

How is Earl Grey different from regular black tea?

Earl Grey is a black tea blend flavored with bergamot oil, which gives it a distinctive citrus aroma and taste. This imperial version uses a black and oolong base and a more pronounced natural bergamot oil, with added complexity from vanilla, black currant, caramel, honey, and stone fruit notes.
